This one was organized by Ahuntsic Chess Club. The idea is to team up with your friends, no matter what your age is.
Qiuyu was invited by the captain Simon Jacques to play as Position One player. Simon No.2; Laurent as No.3 and Loraine as No. 4.
They made a good team and had a good game overall. Qiuyu learned to play slower and Was willing to strive to win. The result was very encouraging: the team got the second place and Qiuyu finished at No.1 as Position One player.
Something amazing happened during the game. One time he was paired to a player rated 2003 and was offered a draw during the game. If he took the offer, his team won immediately as Position Three and Four had won the game. But he took his time to think it through and decided not to take the offer. It turned out his judgement was right. He won that game after a few more moves. I am very surprised sometimes how things are directing with his creativity and gradually growing maturity.
One thing that I learned from Qiuyu: trust your judgement and go for it!
