I have been participating in Sunday Elite League ever since Season 1. Zhaoyang Luo (that guy who is squeezing my head in the photo) was my first Captain back then; and we won the whole season, proudly.
I was playing maybe Board 3 in the very beginning? The process is like any game: you started as a goofy-looking ogre with lame skills, sitting at lower capped board. My only hope is to become the best ogre I can be.
Then it came with HOW? Theoretically, it is simple and straight-forward in games, you just kill another dragon, acquire more armor…… and then, you hear “Ding”: You got leveled up! Sounds simple right? But if you really think in reality it woks that way for chess, you are not seeing the entire story.
My story is no exception. Just lots of “off” and “on” …
At Sunday Elite League, season by season, as a miracle, I acquired more “armor” and dismantled a few “dragons”. Until the current Season 5, the role of Captain is even open to me!
The day that the organizer: Lefong, asked me if I want to be one of the Captains, my feeling was mixed: honored; and at the same time, panicking:
Will the player that I pick rejects me in my face?
Will the other tall Captains stare me down and let their eyes do the job?
Do I need to wear bright-colored outfit just like Houji did?
……
Then I left an instruction note to my mom for her to reply to Lefong: just say yes to whatever flows to your email from Lefong!
It turned out that at Lefong’s hand, everything is just fine….except that now everyone know what I looked like when I was in Grade 1..(Parents: DO NOT trust your hair-cutting skill too much!)
