Hockey Game Night

Joe played about 3 years’ hockey.

It was such a pity that we had to give up. But the conflicts between hockey games and chess games are just too overwhelming. As we cannot have them all, Qiuyu picked chess over hockey (of course he did).

This year, we were invited to Bell centre for a game between canadiens  and washington capitals. By the time that we received the invitation,we did not know anything about those two teams.      Thanks to Google search, we finally got to the point that we should be expecting a good performance from Carey Price or the left wing Alex Ovechkin from Washington Capitals.

It turned out we had a really good night that we didn’t expect would turn out that way.  With the best of intentions to arrive early, we pulled up to Bell Centre. But we did not know a relatively larger bag was not allowed. I was carrying this everyday bag which had my lunch bag and a book. Simon had to get rid of the bag before we were allowed to enter. The only way was to carry it to the place that he parked the car which was far far away. He missed the grand opening of the game and maybe one or two shots-

A few things to remember for that day:

1. We learned lots of rules and facts about hockey game.

2. We got to know a lot more good players other than Price and Alex.

3. Hockey game can really get aggressive. There are some players whose main responsibility is to start a fight and get themselves and the relatively better opponents penalty time.

4. Penalty time is really important. Very simple to me: players should really control themselves and not to get themselves involved in any fights for the sake of result.

5. Canadians care a lot about their team.

6. Not difficult to follow the rhythm as the screen reminds you constantly: make some noise!
