We have been to Quebec for so many times but never visited the ice hotel. This time we stayed one more night, visiting the ice hotel before it was melted.
The entrance was big; higher than the ice hotel. We bought a ticket (because we had to, if we wanted to visit the hotel) and then entered the hotel.
The hotel was smaller than I expected and less fancier compared to the photos on the brochure. I always thought that the Ice Hotel did not have to be rebuilt every year but now I realized that I was wrong.
We entered the hotel where there was a big ice slide from the top of it. It was slow, but okay. Then we visited various places – the bars and the chapel. Outside the chapel, people were doing a commercial. Cool. We entered several hotel rooms, and noticed that the doors were not doors, but curtains. There’s a fireplace in each of the hotel rooms, to keep them warm. A red curtain means that inside, there’s a beautiful ice sculpture while a blue curtain indicates a normal room without anything special. We probably visited every room (except one with the blue curtains, of course) and took photos of them (the hotel wasn’t open for residence, just for tourism). There was even a spa and a sauna outside. It was open and functioning, plus the fact that the water was boiling hot there. We went tube sliding (5$) outside. The slide was smaller than I expected. I took a video of our descent, and it was very funny.
I bought a small souvenir. Then we planned to go to the museum.
The big problem was that we needed to have our lunch, so we didn’t have time for the museum. Then, we went to a friend’s house. My dad had a long talk with his friend and I played with the kids (they are twins!) At 6pm we decided to return to Montreal.
The trip home was shorter, defininately because I was asleep for a long while.
Quebec, see you in the next tournament!
