Q won two times in Trois Rivieres. We thought there was always a plan for Q there: like a third winning in a row…
It turned out the history cannot be re-made. At least not for this year.
Q finished the game on Friday around mid-night, by then he was totally losing focus and drew that game. Then the vicious cycle continued: he ended up not sleeping well that night. The second morning, he showed up as a sleep-deprived little kid, super nervous and eventually lost the second game. He could not help crying when he stepped out of the room.
He went back to the hotel and had a power nap right after, which basically recovered him a little bit energy and he did well in the following 3 rounds.
This tournament was an amazing one where Q did play significantly slower and did show his determination to win. It seems like he is on the path of “slow is the new fast”. Losing does not negatively impact him that much now. We are glad that even if he has lost his chance to win the top 3, he still strived to have a good game for the last round. That is called sportsmanship. That is called progressing.
The owner of the hotel is from Fujian Province!
It would be nice to have a daughter like this one:
We had buffet together to celebrate Shawn’s birthday:
